Brahmin

Brahmin (/ˈbrɑːmɪn/; Sanskrit: ब्राह्मण) is a varna (class) in Hinduism specializing as priests, teachers (acharya) and protectors of sacred learning across generations.

Etymology

The term Brahmin is derived from the Sanskrit word Brahmana (Brahma + ana). Brahma refers to the Hindu god of creation, while ana signifies "the highest" or "supreme". Thus, Brahmin can be interpreted as "the highest of the supreme" or "the one who knows Brahma".
