Catamaran Corporation (pronunciation: /ˌkatəməˈran kɔːr.pəˈreɪ.ʃən/) is a leading provider of pharmacy benefit management services and healthcare IT solutions. The company was formerly known as SXC Health Solutions Corp. and changed its name to Catamaran Corporation in 2012.

Etymology

History

Catamaran Corporation was founded in 1993 as Systems Xcellence, a software provider for the pharmacy industry. In 2006, the company merged with National Medical Health Card Systems, Inc., a pharmacy benefit management company, and changed its name to SXC Health Solutions. In 2012, the company merged with Catalyst Health Solutions and rebranded as Catamaran Corporation.
