Ciclopirox

Ciclopirox (pronounced as: si-kloe-PEER-ox) is a synthetic antifungal agent for topical dermatologic treatment of superficial mycoses. It is most useful against Tinea versicolor.

Etymology

The term Ciclopirox is derived from the chemical name cyclohexyl hydroxyimino propyl pyridine.

Usage

Ciclopirox is used to treat fungal infections of the skin. These include athlete's foot, jock itch, and ringworm. It works by stopping the growth of fungus.
