Gender Expression

Gender expression (/ˈdʒɛndər ɪkˈsprɛʃən/) refers to the external manifestation of one's gender identity, usually expressed through behavior, clothing, haircut, voice, or body characteristics.

Etymology

The term "gender expression" is derived from the English words "gender", which comes from the Old French gandre meaning "kind, species; sex" and "expression", which originates from the Latin expressio meaning "a pressing out; a setting forth".
