Inclination (medicine)

Inclination (pronounced: /ɪnklɪˈneɪʃən/) is a term used in various fields of medicine to describe a specific angle or direction of a structure or process. The term is derived from the Latin word 'inclinare', meaning 'to lean'.

In Orthopedics, inclination refers to the angle at which a bone or joint is oriented. For example, the Femoral Neck Inclination is the angle between the neck and shaft of the femur.

In Dentistry, inclination is used to describe the angle at which a tooth is positioned in relation to its neighboring teeth or the jawbone. For instance, the Incisor Inclination refers to the angle at which the incisors are positioned in the mouth.

In Radiology, inclination can refer to the angle at which an imaging device is positioned to capture a specific view of the body. For example, the Cranial Inclination is the angle at which a radiograph is taken to view the skull.

In Cardiology, inclination is used to describe the angle of the heart within the chest cavity, known as the Cardiac Inclination.
