Jeweler (pronunciation: /ˈdʒuːələr/), also spelled jeweller in British English, is a person or business that designs, makes, sells, and repairs jewelry. The term is derived from the Old French word jouel, which means "jewel".

The term "jeweler" comes from the Old French jouel, which in turn is derived from the Latin jocale, meaning "plaything". In the Middle Ages, a jeweler was a craftsman who created jewelry items, often using gold, silver, gemstones, and other precious materials.
