Kenya Medical Research Institute

The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a state corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. The 28th February 1979 marked the first meeting of the Board of Management of the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI).

KEMRI's mandate is to conduct research in human health. KEMRI is the national body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya. The Institute is tasked with, among others, carrying out research in human health, cooperating with other research organizations and institutions of higher learning on matters of relevant research, and disseminating research findings to the public.
