low-risk HPV - (pronounced) (loh-risk. . . ) A type of human papillomavirus (HPV) that can cause skin warts, such as skin warts on the hands, feet, and the skin around the genitals and anus. It can also cause respiratory papillomatosis, a condition in which warts form on the larynx or other areas of the airways, causing breathing problems. Low-risk HPV infections do not cause cancer, and many go away on their own without treatment. Also known as low-risk human papillomavirus
