Pamelor - (pronounced) (PA-meh-lor) A drug used to treat depression. It can also be used to treat panic or anxiety disorders, certain types of pain, and to help people quit smoking. Pamelor increases levels of norepinephrine and other natural chemicals in the brain. This helps improve mood and can reduce a person's cravings for nicotine. It's a type of tricyclic antidepressant. Also called Aventyl and Nortriptyline
