Prana

Prana (/ˈprɑːnə/; Sanskrit: प्राण, IAST: prāṇa) is a Sanskrit word that refers to a vital, life-sustaining force of living beings and vital energy in natural processes of the universe.

Etymology

The term 'Prana' is derived from the Sanskrit root 'pra' meaning 'to fill', and 'an' meaning 'to breathe or live'. Thus, Prana is often translated as 'vital breath' or 'life force'.

Definition

Prana is the universal principle of energy or force. It is the sum total of all energy that is manifest in the universe, all the forces in nature and powers which are hidden in humans and which lie everywhere around us.
