Short definitionstereotactic method - (pronounced) (STAYR-ee-oh-TAK-sik proh-SEE-jer) procedure that uses special equipment and imaging techniques to find an abnormal area in the brain, breast, lungs, or liver and direct the removal of a sample of tissue from that area. Stereotactic procedures are also used to treat some types of cancer, including cancers of the brain, breast, lung, and liver, by precisely delivering radiation directly to a tumor.
