Etymology

The name "University of Pharmacy, Mandalay" is derived from its location in Mandalay, the second-largest city and the last royal capital of Myanmar, and its focus on pharmacy, the branch of health sciences that deals with the preparation and dispensing of drugs.

History

The University of Pharmacy, Mandalay was established in 1991 as a separate institution from the University of Medicine, Mandalay. It was originally known as the Institute of Pharmacy, Mandalay and was upgraded to university status in 2001.
