Wiley-Blackwell (/'waɪli blækˈwɛl/) is a global, scholarly publishing company that focuses on academic and professional sectors. It was formed by the merger of John Wiley & Sons' global Scientific, Technical, and Medical business with Blackwell Publishing in 2007.
Etymology
The name "Wiley-Blackwell" is a combination of "John Wiley & Sons," an American publishing company founded in 1807, and "Blackwell Publishing," a British publishing company established in 1922. The merger of these two companies in 2007 resulted in the formation of Wiley-Blackwell.
