Allah

Allah (pronunciation: /ɑːˈlɑː/, /əˈlɑː/, /æˈlɑː/; Arabic: الله‎) is the standard Arabic word for God. While the term is best known in the West for its use by Muslims as a reference to God, it is used by Arabs of all Abrahamic faiths, including Mizrahi Jews, Baha'is and Eastern Orthodox Christians, in reference to "God".

Etymology

The word Allah has been used by Arabic people of different religions since pre-Islamic times. It is thought to be derived from the Arabic al-Ilāh, which means "the God". The word is related to El and Elah, the Hebrew and Aramaic words for God.
