Avengers
Avengers
The Avengers are a fictional team of superheroes appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The team made its debut in The Avengers #1, created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist/co-plotter Jack Kirby. The Avengers are known for their battle cry, "Avengers Assemble!"
History
The Avengers were created as a response to the success of DC Comics' Justice League. The original team consisted of Iron Man, Ant-Man, Hulk, Thor, and the Wasp. They were later joined by Captain America, who was discovered trapped in ice in The Avengers #4.
Formation
The team was formed when Loki, the Asgardian god of mischief, manipulated the Hulk into going on a rampage. This led to the formation of a team to stop him, which included Iron Man, Ant-Man, Wasp, and Thor. They eventually discovered Loki's involvement and defeated him, deciding to remain together as a team.
