BHIE

BHIE (pronounced: B-H-I-E, /ˈbiːˈhaɪˈiː/ ), also known as Bi-directional Health Information Exchange, is a system that allows the exchange of health-related information between two parties in a secure manner. The term is often used in the context of Healthcare Information Technology and Electronic Health Records.

Etymology

The term BHIE is an acronym derived from the words Bi-directional, Health, Information, and Exchange. The term was coined to describe the two-way flow of health-related information between different healthcare providers or systems.
