Basket Sign (pronounced: /ˈbaskɪt saɪn/) is a term used in medical parlance to describe a specific radiological sign.

Definition

The Basket Sign is a radiological sign seen in Ultrasound imaging of the appendix when it is inflamed, a condition known as Appendicitis. It is characterized by the presence of multiple echogenic, non-shadowing structures within the lumen of the appendix, giving an appearance similar to a basket.
