It is held annually in Berlin, Germany. The festival was founded in 1951 and has been celebrated every February since then.

History

The Berlin International Film Festival was established in West Berlin in 1951 by Alfred Bauer, who became the festival's first director. The festival was initially intended to be a showcase for the free world, and it quickly grew in prestige and size. Over the years, the Berlinale has become a major platform for the international film industry, attracting thousands of visitors from around the world, including filmmakers, industry professionals, and the media.

Awards

The most prestigious awards at the Berlin International Film Festival are the Golden Bear and the Silver Bear.
