Brad Pitt
American actor and film producer
William Bradley Pitt (born December 18, 1963) is an American actor and film producer. He is the recipient of various accolades, including two Academy Awards, two British Academy Film Awards, and two Golden Globe Awards. Pitt first gained recognition as a cowboy hitchhiker in the road film Thelma & Louise (1991). His first leading roles in big-budget productions came with the drama films A River Runs Through It (1992) and Legends of the Fall (1994), and the horror film Interview with the Vampire (1994).
Early life
Pitt was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to William Alvin Pitt, the proprietor of a trucking company, and Jane Etta (née Hillhouse), a school counselor. The family soon moved to Springfield, Missouri, where he lived together with his younger siblings, Douglas Mitchell (born 1966) and Julie Neal (born 1969). Pitt attended Kickapoo High School, where he was a member of the golf, swimming, and tennis teams. He participated in the school's Key and Forensics clubs, in school debates, and in musicals.
Career
1987–1993: Early work and breakthrough
Pitt's acting career began in 1987, with uncredited parts in the films No Way Out, No Man's Land, and Less Than Zero. His television debut came in May 1987 with a two-episode role on the NBC soap opera Another World. In the late 1980s, Pitt made guest appearances on television series such as 21 Jump Street, Growing Pains, and Dallas.
Pitt's breakthrough role came in 1991, when he played a charming drifter in the film Thelma & Louise. His performance garnered him significant attention and led to more prominent roles in Hollywood.
1994–2000: Leading man status
In 1994, Pitt starred in the horror film Interview with the Vampire, alongside Tom Cruise and Kirsten Dunst. The film was a commercial success and further established Pitt as a leading actor. He continued to gain critical acclaim with his performances in Legends of the Fall (1994) and Se7en (1995), the latter of which was a major box office hit.
Pitt's role in Fight Club (1999) has since become iconic, and the film has developed a cult following. He also starred in Ocean's Eleven (2001) and its sequels, Ocean's Twelve (2004) and Ocean's Thirteen (2007).
2001–present: Continued success and production
In 2001, Pitt co-founded the production company Plan B Entertainment with Jennifer Aniston and Brad Grey. The company has produced numerous critically acclaimed films, including The Departed (2006), 12 Years a Slave (2013), and Moonlight (2016), all of which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.
Pitt won his first Academy Award for acting for his performance in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019), directed by Quentin Tarantino. He continues to be a prominent figure in the film industry, both as an actor and a producer.
Personal life
Pitt has been married twice, first to actress Jennifer Aniston from 2000 to 2005, and then to actress Angelina Jolie from 2014 to 2016. He has six children with Jolie, three of whom were adopted internationally.

Pitt's filmography includes a wide range of genres, from drama and action to comedy and science fiction. Some of his notable films include Troy (2004), Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), and Moneyball (2011).
