Buenos Aires Province ( ) is the largest and most populous province of Argentina. It is located in the central-eastern part of the country, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the provinces of Entre Ríos and Santa Fe to the north, Córdoba to the west, and La Pampa and Río Negro to the south. The province surrounds but does not include the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, which is the capital city of Argentina.

History

The area now known as Buenos Aires Province was originally inhabited by various indigenous groups, including the Querandí and Mapuche peoples. The first European to explore the region was Juan Díaz de Solís in 1516. The province was officially established in 1820, following the Argentine War of Independence.
