Buenos Aires Province (Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found. ) is the largest and most populous province of Argentina. It is located in the central-eastern part of the country, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the provinces of Entre Ríos and Santa Fe to the north, Córdoba to the west, and La Pampa and Río Negro to the south. The province surrounds but does not include the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, which is the capital city of Argentina.
History
The area now known as Buenos Aires Province was originally inhabited by various indigenous groups, including the Querandí and Mapuche peoples. The first European to explore the region was Juan Díaz de Solís in 1516. The province was officially established in 1820, following the Argentine War of Independence.
Geography
Buenos Aires Province covers an area of 307,571 square kilometers, making it the largest province in Argentina. The landscape is predominantly flat, with the Pampas region occupying much of the province. The Sierra de la Ventana and Sierra del Tandil mountain ranges are located in the southern part of the province.
Economy
The economy of Buenos Aires Province is diverse, with agriculture, industry, and services all playing significant roles. The province is a major producer of soybeans, wheat, and maize. It is also an important industrial center, with significant production of automobiles, steel, and petrochemicals.
