Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers are a professional American football team based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Panthers compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league's National Football Conference (NFC) South division. The team was established in 1993 and began play in 1995 under the ownership of Jerry Richardson. The Panthers play their home games at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, which also serves as the team's headquarters.
History
The Carolina Panthers were awarded the NFL's 29th franchise in 1993, and they began play in the 1995 NFL season. The team was founded by Jerry Richardson, a former NFL player and businessman. The Panthers quickly found success, reaching the NFC Championship Game in just their second season in 1996.
Team Identity
The team's colors are black, Panther blue, and silver. The Panthers' mascot is Sir Purr, and their cheerleading squad is known as the TopCats. The team's fight song is "Sweet Caroline," which is played after every home victory.
Stadium
The Panthers play their home games at Bank of America Stadium, which is located in uptown Charlotte. The stadium has a seating capacity of over 74,000 and features state-of-the-art facilities.
