Cartier
Cartier is a renowned French luxury goods conglomerate that designs, manufactures, distributes, and sells jewelry and watches. Founded by Louis-François Cartier in Paris in 1847, the company has grown to become one of the most prestigious names in the luxury industry.
History
Cartier was established in 1847 when Louis-François Cartier took over the workshop of his master, Adolphe Picard. The company gained prominence under the leadership of his son, Alfred Cartier, and later his grandsons, Louis, Pierre, and Jacques.
Expansion
In 1904, Cartier received a significant boost when Alberto Santos-Dumont, a Brazilian aviator, requested a watch that could be easily read while flying. This led to the creation of the Santos de Cartier, one of the first wristwatches designed for men. The company continued to expand internationally, opening boutiques in London, New York City, and other major cities.
Iconic Designs
Cartier is known for its iconic designs, including the Tank watch, inspired by the Renault FT tanks used during World War I, and the Panthère de Cartier, which features the panther motif that has become synonymous with the brand.
Products
Cartier's product range includes high-end jewelry, watches, leather goods, and accessories. Some of their most famous collections include:
