Coffee County is a county located in the central part of the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 57,889. Its county seat is Manchester. The county is named for John Coffee, a prominent planter and military leader.
History
Coffee County was established in 1836 from parts of Bedford, Warren, and Franklin counties. The county was named in honor of John Coffee, a close friend of Andrew Jackson and a hero of the War of 1812.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 435 square miles (1,130 km²), of which 429 square miles (1,110 km²) is land and 6.0 square miles (16 km²) (1.4%) is water.

Demographics
As of the 2020 census, there were 57,889 people, 22,000 households, and 15,000 families residing in the county. The population density was 135 people per square mile (52/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 90.5% White, 4.5% Black or African American, 0.5% Native American, 1.0% Asian, and 3.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.0% of the population.

Coffee County is served by the Coffee County School District, which includes several elementary, middle, and high schools. The county is also home to the Tennessee College of Applied Technology - McMinnville.
