Collaboration (pronounced: /kəˌlabəˈrāSH(ə)n/) is a process where two or more people or organizations work together to complete a task or achieve a goal. Collaboration is similar to, but more closely aligned than, cooperation, and both are an opposite of competition.

The term collaboration originates from the Latin collaborare which means "to work together". It was first used in the English language in the mid-19th century.
