Early Life
Dave Gahan was born in Epping, Essex, England. He was raised by his mother, Sylvia, after his father, Len Callcott, left the family. Career
Depeche Mode
In 1980, Gahan joined Depeche Mode, which was formed by Vince Clarke, Martin Gore, and Andrew Fletcher. The band gained popularity with their debut album, Speak & Spell (1981), which featured the hit single "Just Can't Get Enough". After Clarke's departure, Gore became the primary songwriter, and the band continued to achieve success with albums like Black Celebration (1986), Music for the Masses (1987), and Violator (1990).

Solo Career
In 2003, Gahan released his debut solo album, Paper Monsters, followed by Hourglass in 2007. Both albums showcased his songwriting abilities and received positive reviews. Gahan has also collaborated with other artists, including Soulsavers on the albums The Light the Dead See (2012) and Angels & Ghosts (2015).
