The dollar is a unit of currency used by various countries around the world. The symbol for the dollar is "$", and it is often abbreviated as "USD" when referring to the United States dollar. The dollar is subdivided into 100 smaller units called cents.
History
The term "dollar" originates from the thaler, a silver coin used throughout Europe during the 16th century. The name "thaler" was derived from the Joachimsthaler, a coin minted in the town of Joachimsthal in Bohemia. The concept of the dollar was later adopted by the United States when it gained independence from Great Britain.

New Zealand Dollar
The New Zealand dollar (NZD) is the official currency of New Zealand. It is issued by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and is commonly known as the "kiwi dollar."
Singapore Dollar
The Singapore dollar (SGD) is the official currency of Singapore. It is issued by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Hong Kong Dollar
The Hong Kong dollar (HKD) is the official currency of Hong Kong. It is issued by three banks: Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, Standard Chartered, and Bank of China.
