Douglas County is a county located in the state of Washington. As of the 2020 census, the population was 42,596. The county seat is Waterville, and its largest city is East Wenatchee. The county was created on November 28, 1883, and is named after Stephen A. Douglas, an American politician from Illinois.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,849 square miles (4,790 km²), of which 1,820 square miles (4,710 km²) is land and 29 square miles (75 km²) (1.6%) is water.

Economy
The economy of Douglas County is primarily based on agriculture, with significant contributions from apple and cherry orchards. The county is also known for its wine production, with several vineyards and wineries located in the region.

Douglas County is served by several school districts, including the Eastmont School District and the Waterville School District. Higher education opportunities are available at Wenatchee Valley College in nearby Wenatchee.
Transportation
Major highways in Douglas County include U.S. Route 2, U.S. Route 97, and State Route 28. The county is also served by the Pangborn Memorial Airport, which provides regional air service.
