Douglas County is a county located in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 44,811. The county seat is Superior. The county was created in 1854 and named after Stephen A. Douglas, an American politician from Illinois.
Geography
Douglas County covers a total area of 1,480 square miles, of which 1,304 square miles is land and 176 square miles is water. The county is characterized by its diverse geography, including forests, rivers, and lakes. The Saint Louis River forms part of the county's northern border.
