ELISA - (pronounced) (ee-LY-suh) A laboratory technique that uses antibodies linked to enzymes to measure the amount of a substance in a solution, such as B. serum to detect and measure. The test is performed using a solid surface to which the antibodies and other molecules adhere. In the last step, an enzyme reaction takes place, causing a color change that can be read with a special machine. There are many different ways an ELISA can be performed.
