Email address
Email Address
An Email Address (pronunciation: /ˈiːmeɪl ˈædrɛs/) is a unique identifier for an Email account. It is used to send and receive email messages over the Internet.
Etymology
The term "Email Address" is derived from the English words "email" (a contraction of "electronic mail") and "address" (a location to which something is sent or delivered).
Structure
An Email Address typically consists of three parts: the local part, the @ symbol, and the domain part. The local part is the name of the mailbox, which is unique to the user within the domain. The domain part is the domain name of the email service provider.
Usage
To send an email, the sender must know the recipient's Email Address. The Email Address is entered in the "To" field of the email client. The email is then sent over the Internet, and it is delivered to the mailbox associated with the Email Address.
