Espresso Machine

An Espresso Machine is a type of coffee brewing device that is used to produce espresso, a concentrated form of coffee that originated in Italy. The machine works by forcing a small amount of nearly boiling water under pressure through finely ground coffee beans.

History

The first espresso machine was built and patented by Angelo Moriondo of Turin, Italy, who demonstrated a working model at the Turin General Exposition of 1884. However, it was in 1901 that Luigi Bezzera of Milan patented improvements to the machine which were bought by the founder of the La Pavoni company who started to produce the machine commercially in a small workshop in Via Parini in Milan.

Types of Espresso Machines

There are several types of espresso machines, each with its own unique method of brewing.

Manual Espresso Machine

A Manual Espresso Machine requires the user to manually pump the espresso out of the machine. This type of machine is often preferred by coffee aficionados for the control it offers over the brewing process.

Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine

A Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine automates the process of pumping the espresso, but still allows the user to control the amount of water used in the brewing process.

Fully Automatic Espresso Machine

A Fully Automatic Espresso Machine automates both the pumping and the water volume, making it easier for the user to brew espresso.

Super Automatic Espresso Machine

A Super Automatic Espresso Machine not only automates the brewing process, but also grinds the coffee beans, tamps the coffee grounds, and cleans the machine after each use.
