Eugene Levy (born December 17, 1946) is a Canadian actor, comedian, producer, writer, and director. He is known for his work in comedy and has appeared in numerous films and television series. Levy is particularly recognized for his collaborations with Christopher Guest on mockumentary films such as Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, and For Your Consideration. He is also well-known for his role as Noah Levenstein in the American Pie film series.

Early life

Eugene Levy was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, to a Jewish family. His father was a foreman at an automobile plant, and his mother was a homemaker. Levy attended Westdale Secondary School and later studied at McMaster University, where he was vice-president of the McMaster Film Board, a student film group.

Career

Early career

Levy began his career in the entertainment industry as a member of the Second City comedy troupe in Toronto. He gained prominence as a cast member on the sketch comedy series SCTV, where he portrayed a variety of characters and became known for his comedic versatility.

Film career

Levy's film career includes a mix of mainstream comedies and independent films. He has appeared in movies such as Splash, National Lampoon's Vacation, and Father of the Bride.
