Evolvulus alsinoides is a species of flowering plant in the family Convolvulaceae, commonly known as dwarf morning-glory or slender dwarf morning-glory. It is a perennial herb that is widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions around the world.

Description

Evolvulus alsinoides is a small, prostrate or ascending herb that typically grows to a height of 10-30 cm. The stems are slender, hairy, and often form a mat-like growth. The leaves are simple, alternate, and ovate to lanceolate in shape, measuring 1-3 cm in length. The leaf surface is covered with fine hairs, giving it a silvery appearance.

The flowers are small, blue or violet, and funnel-shaped, with a diameter of about 1 cm. They are borne singly or in small clusters in the leaf axils. The fruit is a small, globose capsule containing 2-4 seeds.

Habitat and Distribution

Evolvulus alsinoides is found in a variety of habitats, including grasslands, open woodlands, and disturbed areas such as roadsides and fields. It is native to tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Australia.
