Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications
To become a Fire Chief, an individual must have extensive experience in firefighting and emergency services. This typically includes several years of service as a firefighter, followed by a progression through the ranks to positions of increasing responsibility.
In addition to experience, a Fire Chief must have strong leadership skills, the ability to make critical decisions under pressure, and a thorough understanding of fire science and fire service administration.
