Short definitionfolinic acid (foh-LIN-ik A-sid) A form of folic acid used alone or with other medicines to treat certain types of colon cancer and anemia and to reduce the toxic effects of the cancer drug methotrexate or other substances that block the action of folic acid. Folinic acid is also being studied to treat other conditions and cancers.
