Gösta Forssell
Gösta Forssell (1876–1950) was a prominent Swedish radiologist and a pioneer in the field of radiology. He made significant contributions to the development of medical imaging and the use of X-rays in diagnostics and treatment.
Early Life and Education
Gösta Forssell was born on 2 May 1876 in Stockholm, Sweden. He pursued his medical education at the Karolinska Institute, where he developed an interest in the emerging field of radiology. Forssell graduated with a medical degree in 1902.
Career
After completing his education, Forssell worked at various hospitals in Sweden, where he gained experience in the use of X-rays. In 1910, he was appointed as the head of the radiology department at the Serafimerlasarettet in Stockholm. Under his leadership, the department became a leading center for radiological research and treatment.
Forssell was instrumental in the establishment of the Swedish Society of Radiology in 1918, where he served as its first president. He was also a founding member of the International Society of Radiology.
