G. Schneider & Sohn
G. Schneider & Sohn
G. Schneider & Sohn is a renowned German brewery that specializes in the production of wheat beer. Founded in 1872 by Georg Schneider I, the brewery has a rich history and is known for its commitment to traditional brewing methods.
History
G. Schneider & Sohn has a long and storied history that dates back over a century. The brewery was established in 1872 by Georg Schneider I in the town of Kelheim, Bavaria. At the time, wheat beer was not as popular as it is today, and Georg Schneider I saw an opportunity to revive this traditional brewing style.
The brewery quickly gained recognition for its high-quality wheat beers, and by the early 20th century, it had become one of the leading wheat beer producers in Germany. Despite facing challenges during both World Wars, G. Schneider & Sohn managed to survive and continue its operations.
In the 1970s, the brewery faced financial difficulties and was on the verge of closure. However, Georg Schneider VI, the great-great-grandson of the founder, took over the business and successfully turned it around. Under his leadership, the brewery experienced a revival and regained its position as a top producer of wheat beer.
Beers
G. Schneider & Sohn is best known for its wide range of wheat beers, which are brewed using traditional methods and high-quality ingredients. Some of their most popular beers include:
- Schneider Weisse: This is the flagship beer of the brewery and is considered a classic example of a German wheat beer. It has a rich, golden color and a distinctive fruity and spicy flavor.
- Aventinus: Aventinus is a strong wheat beer that is brewed using a special recipe. It has a dark, ruby color and a complex flavor profile with notes of banana, clove, and caramel.
- Tap 7 Mein Original: This beer is often referred to as the "original" wheat beer and is a favorite among beer enthusiasts. It has a refreshing taste with hints of banana and clove.
