Gonzaga University is a private Roman Catholic university located in Spokane, Washington. Founded in 1887 by the Society of Jesus, it is one of 28 member institutions of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities.

History

Gonzaga University was established by Joseph Cataldo, an Italian-born priest and missionary, who sought to create a school that would provide a comprehensive education rooted in the Jesuit tradition. The university is named after Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, a 16th-century Italian Jesuit saint.

Academics

Gonzaga offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs. The university is particularly known for its programs in business, engineering, law, and education. The School of Law is one of the university's most prestigious programs, offering a Juris Doctor degree.

Campus

The Gonzaga University campus is located along the Spokane River and features a blend of historic and modern architecture. Key facilities include the Foley Center Library, the Hemmingson Center, and the McCarthey Athletic Center.

Athletics
