Hampton is a town located in the United Kingdom, specifically in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. History

Hampton's history dates back to the Anglo-Saxon period. The name "Hampton" is believed to have originated from the term "Hamm-tun", which translates to "farmstead or settlement by the water". The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it was referred to as "Hantone".
