Handedness

Handedness (/ˈhændɪdnəs/) is a human attribute defined by unequal distribution of fine motor skills between the left and right hands. An individual who is more dexterous with the right hand is said to be right-handed, and one who is more skilled with the left is said to be left-handed.

Etymology

The term "handedness" comes from the English word "hand", with the suffix "-edness" used to indicate a state or quality. The term thus refers to the quality or state of one's use of hands.
