Homerton College is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge. Originally established in 1768 in Homerton, London, as a dissenting academy, it moved to Cambridge in 1894. Homerton was granted full college status by the university in 2010, making it one of the newer full colleges at Cambridge.
History
Homerton College traces its roots back to the late 17th century when it was founded as an academy for dissenters, who were not permitted to attend Oxford University or Cambridge University due to their religious beliefs. The college moved to Cambridge in 1894 and initially continued its focus on teacher training. Over the years, Homerton has expanded its academic offerings and now provides a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
