History
Hudson Foods Company was established in 1972 by James T. Hudson. The company quickly grew to become a significant player in the food processing industry, specializing in the production of poultry and beef products. By the 1990s, Hudson Foods had expanded its operations to include a wide range of frozen foods.
In 1997, Hudson Foods became embroiled in a major food safety scandal involving the contamination of its beef products with E. coli bacteria. The incident led to one of the largest food recalls in U.S. history at the time, involving over 25 million pounds of ground beef. The recall severely damaged the company's reputation and financial standing.
Following the recall, Hudson Foods was acquired by Tyson Foods, one of the largest food processing companies in the world. The acquisition marked the end of Hudson Foods as an independent entity.
