Human EGF receptor 2 can be produced in higher than normal amounts by some types of cancer cells, including breast, ovarian, bladder, pancreatic, stomach and esophageal cancer. This can cause cancer cells to grow faster and spread to other parts of the body. Checking the amount of human EGF receptor 2 on some types of cancer cells can help in planning treatment. Also referred to as c-erbB-2, HER2, HER2/neu and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2
