John W. Tyson (1905–1967) was an American businessman and the founder of Tyson Foods, one of the world's largest processors and marketers of chicken, beef, and pork. He played a significant role in the development of the modern poultry industry in the United States.

Early Life

John W. Tyson was born in 1905 in Moberly, Missouri. He grew up in a farming family, which influenced his future career in the agricultural sector.

Career

In the 1930s, Tyson moved to Springdale, Arkansas, where he began hauling chickens to markets in the Midwest. Recognizing the potential for growth in the poultry industry, he founded Tyson Feed and Hatchery in 1935, which later became Tyson Foods.

Tyson Foods was officially incorporated in 1947. Under John W. Tyson's leadership, the company expanded rapidly, adopting innovative practices such as vertical integration, which allowed the company to control every aspect of production from breeding to processing.
