Jolly Rancher

From WikiMD's medical encyclopedia

Jolly Rancher is a popular brand of candy, specifically hard candy, that is manufactured by The Hershey Company. The brand is known for its bold fruit flavors and the longevity of its products.

History

Jolly Rancher was founded by Bill Harmsen in 1949. The company originally produced ice cream, chocolate, and candy sold in several "Ranch Maid Ice Cream" stores in the Denver area. The name "Jolly Rancher" was chosen to suggest a hospitable, western company. The company decided to focus on hard candy as it was more resilient to the heat of Denver summers, and could be shipped without risk of melting.

Products

Jolly Rancher's primary product is a hard candy that comes in various flavors. The original flavors included watermelon, apple, and fire stix. They later introduced cherry, orange tangerine, lemon, grape, peach, and sour apple. Some of these flavors are still in production today.

In addition to hard candy, Jolly Rancher also produces gummies, fruit chews, jelly beans, lollipops, gelatin desserts, and sodas. These products often share the same flavors as the hard candy.

Popularity

Jolly Rancher candies are popular for their intense fruit flavors and long-lasting taste. They are often used in recipes, crafts, and cocktails due to their strong and distinctive flavors.
