Jon Wynne-Tyson
Jon Wynne-Tyson (6 July 1924 – 26 March 2020) was a British author, publisher, and animal rights advocate. He is best known for his work in promoting vegetarianism and animal rights, as well as for his contributions to literature and publishing.
Early Life and Education
Jon Wynne-Tyson was born in England on 6 July 1924. He was the son of actor Esme Wynne-Tyson and her husband. He was educated at various schools, including Brighton College.
Career
Wynne-Tyson initially pursued a career in acting, following in his mother's footsteps. However, he later shifted his focus to writing and publishing. He founded Centaur Press in 1954, which became known for publishing works on vegetarianism, animal rights, and classical literature.
Writing
Wynne-Tyson authored several books, including Food for a Future (1975), which discusses the ethical, environmental, and health benefits of a vegetarian diet. His other notable works include The Extended Circle: A Commonplace Book of Animal Rights (1985), which is a compilation of writings on animal rights from various authors.
Publishing
Through Centaur Press, Wynne-Tyson published numerous influential works, including reprints of classic literature and original works on vegetarianism and animal rights. His publishing efforts helped to bring attention to these important issues and provided a platform for other authors to share their views.
Advocacy
