Katie Witkiewitz

Katie Witkiewitz is a prominent psychologist and professor known for her extensive research in the field of addiction and relapse prevention. She is currently a Regents' Professor at the University of New Mexico in the Department of Psychology.

Early Life and Education

Witkiewitz was born and raised in United States. She completed her undergraduate studies in psychology at the University of Washington, where she developed an interest in addiction research. She then pursued her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the same university.

Career

After completing her doctorate, Witkiewitz joined the faculty of the University of Washington as an assistant professor. She later moved to the University of New Mexico, where she currently holds the position of Regents' Professor in the Department of Psychology.

Witkiewitz's research focuses on the development and evaluation of treatments for substance use disorders, with a particular emphasis on mindfulness-based interventions and relapse prevention. She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in this field and has received several awards for her work.

Witkiewitz's research has significantly contributed to the understanding of addiction and relapse.
