Kidney International

Kidney International (kihd-nee in-ter-na-shun-al), often abbreviated as KI, is a peer-reviewed medical journal covering all aspects of nephrology. The journal publishes original research and reviews on the broad field of nephrology, including but not limited to the anatomy, physiology, and diseases of the kidney.

Etymology

The term "Kidney" originates from the Old English word cwiðe, which means "the organ of excretion and secretion in vertebrates." "International" is derived from the Latin inter, meaning "between," and natio, meaning "nation." Thus, "Kidney International" signifies a global platform for knowledge exchange about the kidneys.
