List of VDQS wines

VDQS Wines is a classification for French wines, standing for Vins Délimités de Qualité Supérieure. This classification is the second highest in the French wine classification system, just below AOC and above Vin de pays. The VDQS classification was established in 1949 and was abolished in 2011, with all VDQS wines being upgraded to AOC status.

History

The VDQS classification was established in 1949 as a way to recognize wines that were of higher quality than Vin de pays, but not quite at the level of AOC.
