Loma Linda University (pronunciation: loʊmə lɪndə juːnɪˈvɜːrsɪti) is a Seventh-day Adventist health sciences institution located in Loma Linda, California, United States.


The name "Loma Linda" is Spanish, and it translates to "Beautiful Hill". The university was named after the city it is located in.


Loma Linda University was established in 1905 by the Seventh-day Adventist Church as a training facility for nurses and doctors. The university has since expanded to include eight schools and a Faculty of Graduate Studies offering more than 100 degree and certificate programs.
